Eron Gordon’s athletic eligibility appeal will go before the Indiana Department of Education’s case review panel on Nov. 19.

Gordon, a 6-2 four-star guard ranked No. 43 in the 2016 class by Rivals.com, was declared ineligible by the Indiana High School Athletic Association when he transferred from North Central to Cathedral over the summer. The IHSAA ruled Gordon had transferred for “athletic reasons,” rendering him ineligible for one year from his last game at North Central.

The IHSAA’s review panel upheld the ruling on Gordon in late August.

The Department of Education’s case review panel issues its ruling based on the transcript of testimony at the IHSAA review. The nine-person Department of Education review panel was added as another layer in the appeal process in 2000.

If the Department of Education upholds the ineligible ruling, the Gordons could take their case to court. Cathedral’s first game is Dec. 5 at Howe.
