Fair Park tops Loyola for first place in District 1-4A


Tyronica Foster led three players in double figures as the Fair Park Lady Indians beat Loyola 58-47 Friday night at Loyola to take a one-game lead over the Lady Flyers in the District 1-4A race.

Foster scored 19 points while Dominique Johnson fired in 16 and Stephania Robinson added 11 as Fair Park improved to 15-9 overall and a perfect 6-0 in district.

The loss snapped Loyola’s 14-game winning streak at home in district play (Evangel, 2009).

Amber Smith scored a game-high 21 points for Loyola (16-10, 5-1) and Allyson Ruben added nine as the Lady Flyers dropped their first district game of the year.

Airline 59, Captain Shreve 49: At Captain Shreve, the Lady Vikings rallied in the second half to pick up the District 1-5A victory.

Tasha Shiflett scored 15 points while Jasmyne Carswell and Kei McCoy fired in 13 points each as Airline improved to 15-10 overall and stayed close to district-leading Southwood at 5-1 in 1-5A play.

Kayla Kendrick led Captain Shreve (3-17, 2-4) with 15 points and Paris Coleman added 12 for the Lady Gators.

Woodlawn 106, Northwood 45: At Northwood, Rachel Elzie hit eight 3-pointers among her 30 points as the Lady Knights trounced the Lady Falcons for the District 1-4A road win.

Amber Cook scored 19 points, And Brittney Kendrick and Alexis Webster added 13 each as Woodlawn improved to 8-8 and 3-3 in district.

KJ Harper scored 21 points to lead Northwood (3-19, 0-6).

Minden 74, Huntington 65: At Minden, Ja’Courtney Neloms scored 27 points to lead Minden (14-9, 3-3), while Metosha Gill scored 17 and Tiaga Pugh added 11 in the District 1-4A victory.

Caitlin Jenkins had a game-high 32 points for Huntington (11-9, 2-4) and Tanisha Briggs scored 17 for the Lady Raiders.

Bossier 73, Evangel 68 OT: At Bossier, Tiffany Lynn led the Lady Kats (8-15, 3-4) with 26 points, Brittany Wallace pumped in 15 and Necka Wynn added 10.

Rachel Johnson scored a game-high 39 points, including a 3-pointer from the top of the key with three seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime, and Tyra Young added 20 points for Evangel (13-14, 2-5).

Green Oaks 69, BTW 38: At Green Oaks, the Lady Giants sprinted out to a 23-3 lead after one period and coasted to the District 1-3A win over the Lady Lions.

Princess Davis scored a game-high 25 points, while Janey Jones fired in 17 and Jalishia Brown added 12 as Green Oaks maintained the district lead at 21-4 overall and 7-0 in district play.

North Caddo 76, Homer 42: At Homer, the Class 2A top-ranked Lady Rebels shook off a rough start, outpacing the Lady Pelicans 59-16 in the second half to maintain the lead in District 1-2A.

Ledetriha Sheppard scored 20 points to lead all scorers as North Caddo improved to 24-1 overall and 5-0 in district. Jasmine Thomas dropped in 17 points and Sumer Williams added 14 for the Lady Rebels.

Aliyah Willis led Homer (8-14, 1-4) with 11 points.
