Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) has officially enhanced its already talented frontcourt with the addition of Lone Star (Frisco, Texas) forward P.J. Washington, a 6-foot-8 forward who is ranked No. 9 overall in the ESPN 25.
Washington, a sophomore, enrolled at Findlay Prep today, according to his father Paul. The Pilots are ranked No. 6 in the preseason Super 25.
Paul said he and his wife, Sherry, were initially reluctant to send their 16 year old away to school, but felt it was the best move for him to “reach his goals.”
“I’m very excited for him, but as a father I worry about the whole situation as well,” Paul said. “We come across hard decisions like this in life and I always try to understand God’s will not my own. It’s tough but I feel like if P.J. wants to reach his goals in life then this is the right place for him. Findlay is one of the best prep schools out there and I don’t know many people that would turn this opportunity down.”
This past summer P.J. starred on the AAU circuit for Team Penny (Tenn.), leading them to the uber-prestigious title game of the Nike Peach Jam tournament where he scored 14 points and snagged eight rebounds in a loss to the Playaz Basketball Club (N.J.).
The Pilots kickoff their season Friday night against Impact Academy (Las Vegas).
