Five central Wisconsin baseball teams earned top seeds for the WIAA baseball regional, pairings for which were released Thursday.
Regional play opens June 3, with Division 1 teams that earned byes playing their first games on June 5. In the other divisions, regional semifinals are June 4.
Stevens Point Area Senior High earned a No. 1 seed in Division 1 and will play either Wisconsin Rapids or Menomonie in the regional final.
In other Division 1 games, Wausau East will travel to Merrill with the winner advancing to play top seed Bay Port. Wausau West earned a No. 4 seed and a bye. The Warriors will play either Green Bay Southwest or New London. D.C. Everest will open against Rhinelander.
In Division 2, Tomahawk and Merrill earned the top two seeds in their regional and will have byes. Tomahawk, the No. 1 seed, will play either Medford or Northland Pines in the regional semifinal. Mosinee will wait for either Lakeland or Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
Nekoosa opens regional play against Sparta, while Adams-Friendship will travel to Wisconsin Dells.
Neillsville and Spencer grabbed the top two seeds in their Division 3 regional. Neillsville will host either Colby or Melrose-Mindoro while Spencer will play either Abbotsford or Whitehall.
Marathon and Iola-Scandinavia also earned No. 1 seeds in Division 3, while Athens and Rosholt are the No. 2 seeds in their regional.
Auburndale will meet Pacelli for the right to play Marathon. Athens will wait for the winner of a game between Stratford and Edgar. Amherst plays Tri-County, with the winner playing the Thunderbirds. Rosholt will play either Weyauwega-Fremont or Manawa.
