The fifth enshrinement class for the Fond du Lac High School Athletic Department Hall of Fame is set for induction on Saturday night.
This year’s class is made up of Michael Becker, Rollie Bestor, Drake Diener, Rachel Diener Bechert, Kent Ellingson, Eric Grams and Craig Koenings.
This year’s banquet will also recognize the 1969 Fond du Lac football team that won the state championship.
The banquet will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fond du Lac, beginning at 4 p.m. with a social, with dinner to follow at 5:30 p.m. The induction ceremony is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.
In addition, the enshrinees and members of the 1969 football team will be honored at tonight’s boys basketball game against Appleton West at Acuity Fieldhouse in Fond du Lac High School. That ceremony will take place at halftime of the game, which is slated to begin at 7:15 p.m.
Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased at Fond du Lac High School, KFIZ radio station, the Knights of Columbus Hall and Central Barber.
The inaugural induction ceremony for the Hall of Fame took place in 2009 and was made of eight honorees — Glen Bestor, James Bond, Dick Diener, Ed Fruth, Pete Johnson, Hub King, Ann Klapperich and Rick Koeck.
Last year, seven members were inducted: Jennifer Butzen, Dallas Diener, Dean Haase, Bob King, Jim McKenzie, Julie Myers and Dale Stahmann.
