WLTX News 19 Sports’ Ron Aiken has your look at the top five games in the Midlands tonight, beginning with the WLTX Game of the Week!

As usual, we include our FEARLESS SCORE PREDICTOR, which is a remarkable 16-4 (80% success!) so far this season. Find out who the supercomputer picks tonight!

GAME OF THE WEEK: Brookland-Cayce (5-1, 1-0) at Gilbert (3-3, 0-1)

B-C is rolling right now on a wave of positive momentum, with the Bearcats only loss of the season coming in double-overtime at Chapin, which is having a nice season of its own. B-C rebounded from the loss to wallop Edisto 48-7 then got by Aiken 21-13 last week.

Gilbert has seen two late leads evaporate in consecutive road losses at Batesburg-Leesville 42-41) and Midland Valley (55-38) that have evened the Indians record at 3-3 on the year after a strong 3-1 start.

This game is crucial to Region 5 3A, as both teams have eyes on the top spot along with Midland Valley.

WLTX/USA Today Score Predictor: B-C 35, Gilbert 28

Fairfield Central (5-1, 2-0) at Newberry (5-1, 2-0)

This game is huge. HUGE! Fairfield Central’s only loss was a Week Zero setback in double OT to Brookland-Cayce, and the Griffins have outscored their last three opponents by a combined 164-0. Please re-read that if that hasn’t properly sunk in. 164-0!!!

Newberry, on the other hand, also has just one setback on the year to 5-1 Broome and is the only team to beat Chapin at Chapin this season.

WLTX/USA Today Score Predictor: Fairfield Central 28, Newberry 21

North Augusta (6-0, 0-0) at Lexington (3-3, 0-0)

What a region opener for Josh Stepp’s Lexington team. Undefeated North Augusta looks like the class of Region 5 4A, and if the Wildcats harbor any region hopes after putting together a nice two-game road winning streak, they need a big win here.

Can home field make a difference to a Lexington team playing in front of the Cat Crazies for the first time in three weeks?

WLTX/USA Today Score Predictor: North Augusta 33, Lexington 20

Hanahan (3-3, 1-0) at Orangeburg-Wilkinson (6-0, 1-0)

Can anyone stop O-W this year? The Bruins are coming off a 52-0 thrashing of Stall to open Region 8 4A play and face a Hananan team with wins over Cane Bay, Hilton Head and an impressive 27-0 blanking of Bishop England.

WLTX/USA Today Score Predictor: O-W 14, Hanahan 13

Spring Valley (4-2, 0-0) at Blythewood (2-4, 0-0)

Big rivalry game here in the Region 4 4A opener for both schools. Spring Valley has to be mad following an upset loss at White Knoll last week. The Vikings will have to get it together on the road again this week against a Blythewood team whose only wins this season have come over winless Irmo and struggling Ridge View.

WLTX/USA Today Score Predictor: Spring Valley 34, Blythewood 20
