Football: Highland tops O'Neill, will play for top seed

The Highland High School football team defeated visiting James I. O’Neill 42-12 to improve is overall record to 6-1 on Friday.

Quarterback Brandon Mack was 6 for 10 for 115 yards with two touchdown passes to Mike Weed, who had five receptions for 104 yards.

Isiah Daubon had two rushing touchdowns, as well as 12 carries for 73 yards. Tom Hollway and Storm Malone added rushing scores for the Huskies.

Teddy Mapes had seven tackles and Hollway had six to lead the Highland defense. Cory Garcia had four tackles and an interception. Pat Cerniglia also had an interception.

Highland visits Marlboro (5-2) in a 7 p.m. game on Oct. 24 that will determine the top seed in the Section 9 Class B playoffs. Highland and Marlboro each have 2-0 league records.
