Former Poudre track and field athlete Robin Butler did not advance past Thursday’s 800-meter run preliminary at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California.
Butler, a 2012 Poudre High School graduate who is a sophomore at Western State, finished 29th in a field of 29 runners with a time of 1 minute, 59.88 seconds. The winner, Saucony’s Duane Solomon, ran a 1:47.19.
Butler finished second in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in the 800, and he was first at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships. Butler’s personal best in the 800 is 1:48.5, which would have placed him 16th Thursday. That still would not have been enough for Butler to advance.
