FPD's Brooker steps down

First Presbyterian Day’s boys basketball coach, Michael Brooker, stepped down Friday.

The Vikings went 3-20 during the 2013-14 basketball season. Brooker coached the VIkings for seven years, and told the team about his decision in a meeting earlier today.

In a news release, Brooker said the decision was difficult, but is in the best interest of his family.

During his high school days at Brentwood, Brooker won the 1996 Gatorade player of the year for the state of Georgia. He went on to play college ball, at the university of North Carolina.

FPD athletic director, Greg Moore, says he understands Brooker’s decision. Moore also says the school is already in the process of searching for a new coach.
