Franklin senior shooting guard and reigning Ohio Mr. Basketball Luke Kennard and his teammates will open the season with two straight home games and three of the first five before a holiday tournament.
Franklin boys basketball coach Brian Bales announced released his team’s schedule to The Enquirer on Wednesday morning.
Franklin opens the season against Talawanda Dec. 9 and has another home game with Valley View on Dec. 12. The first road game is at Edgewood Dec. 16.
Among other highlights, Franklin will attend the Beach Ball Classic Dec. 26-3. The Wildcats will participate in the Flyin’ to the Hoop in Kettering over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend in mid-January.
Franklin might still fill one more game, Bales said.
Kennard, who was also the Gatorade Ohio player of the year last season, won a gold medal with the U.S. Under-18 team in June in Colorado Springs.
Kennard, who is verbally committed to Duke, averaged 40 points, 10.4 rebounds, four assists and two steals this past season. He has 1,910 career points at Franklin. He scored 920 points in 23 games this past season.
All five starters including Kennard return for this upcoming season for the Wildcats.
Franklin was 20-4 overall and 12-0 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division.
Franklin was a Division II sectional runner-up last season.
