Judie Mason.* Coach:

First trip.Last trip to state:

Not only are the Lady Admirals making their first trip to the Sweet 16, it’s the first year they’ve ever won a game in the regional tournament. Danville reached the finals of the All A Classic and coach Judie Mason said that was the turning point. “We kept it rolling after the All A,” she said. What to look for:

The Lady Admirals have three players averaging double figures, twins Essence Gray (18.7) annd Laken Gray (12) and Cameron McPherson (16).Key player:

Mason will be taking her second team to the Sweet 16. In 1998, she guided Somerset to the state tournament. “When we started this six years ago, we started from the ground level. When you’ve build something for six years, you don’t want to surrender it.”Coach-speak:

Rodney Rowe.Coach:

2013 (lost to Anderson County 65-23 in quarterfinals).Last trip to State:

Shelby Valley likes run on occasion but doesn’t want to get into a track meet with the quick Lady Admirals. “We don’t want to put up quick shots,” Rowe said. “They (the Lady Admirals) are quick and athletic. It will be a difficult opponent.”What to look for:

The Lady Kats have plenty of balance, featuring just one player who scores in double figures. That one player is Taylor Rowe, the coach’s daughter, a guard who is averaging more than 12 points a game.Key player:

This is Rowe’s second straight year taking Shelby Valley to the girls’ Sweet 16. He also took two Shelby Valley teams to the boys’ state tournament. “I don’t coach them any differently,” he said. “I coach them the same way.”Coach-speak:
