Winner takes lead in chase for Bullitt Cup
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
Bullitt East was off last week after posting a 44-21 victory at Oldham County on Sept. 26. The Chargers have five players who have rushed for more than 100 yards this season, led by seniors Pierce Kelly (345 yards, four TDs), Austin Colvin (339 yards, two TDs) and Robert Hartley (238 yards, four TDs). Sophomore Konnor Polson (222 yards, five TDs) has taken over the quarterback position with Kelly now playing running back and wide receiver.
Bullitt Central rolled past North Bullitt 69-28 last week as Trevor Carnell rushed for 214 yards and five touchdowns. He now has 1,158 yards and 19 TDs and is averaging 11.7 yards per carry this season. Carnell was limited to 84 yards on 15 carries in a 56-6 loss to Bullitt East last year.
Quotable: “(Bullitt Central’s) offense is a lot more wide-open than it was last year,” Bullitt East coach Darrell Vincent said. “They’re throwing it more and have a couple of other running backs, so they’re not just handing it to (Carnell) every play. … They’re harder to defend with what they’re doing now.”
The pick: Bullitt East 35-28.
