Crimsons facing 215-mile bus ride to Paducah
Kickoff: 8 p.m. EST.
Next week: Winner will face Daviess County-St. Xavier winner.
Manual — No. 7 in the state in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings — snapped its three-game losing streak last week with a 48-13 whipping of Eastern. Senior Trae Gordon rushed for 201 yards and two TDs in the victory and is the Crimsons’ top rusher this season with 700 yards and six TDs.
No. 16 McCracken County has won four in a row since suffering its only loss of the season, 28-21 against Graves County on Oct. 3. Junior Zy’Aire Hughes, who has committed to the University of Kentucky, does it all for the Mustangs. He has rushed for 574 yards and 10 TDs, passed for 1,135 yards and eight TDs and caught 41 passes for 477 yards and five TDs.
Quotable: “Basically we try to find the mismatch … and that’s where we play him,” Mustangs coach Jack Haskins said of Hughes. “He’s really versatile. When he gets to Kentucky he’ll probably play receiver or defensive back.”
The pick: Manual 28-20.
