Shamrocks look to avenge last year’s 42-28 loss to Cardinals

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

• Trinity picked up its first victory last week, whipping Philadelphia Imhotep Charter 30-6 as Donald Brooks rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns. The senior running back also threw a 21-yard TD pass to Vincenzo Palombino. Coach Bob Beatty said sophomore Larry Harper III will get the start at quarterback and that senior Ryan Young also is available after missing last week’s game with a concussion.

• Colerain is 0-2 for the first time since 2009 after falling to Cincinnati St. Xavier 31-12 last week. Junior quarterback Dashaunte Jones rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries to lead the Cardinals, who lost 15 starters off last year’s 12-1 team. Senior defensive back Mayne Williams has committed to Ohio University.

Quotable: “The difference in their first game against LaSalle to last week against Cincinnati St. X, it’s unbelievable how much Colerain improved,” Beatty said. “It’s their home opener, and we’re dealing with a wounded animal. … We’ll have our work cut out for us.”

• The pick: Trinity 28-14.
