Germantown's 69-game streak stopped

The state’s longest winning streak in boys’ basketball history has come to an end.

Top-ranked Germantown was beaten 68-58 by host Brookfield Central on Tuesday night, snapping a 69-game winning streak. The Warhawks’ last loss was 54-52 to Appleton East on March 15, 2011, in a super sectional game at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Brookfield Central (12-0), ranked third in the Associated Press poll, was led by senior Riley LaChance, a Vanderbilt recruit, with 24 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter.

Germantown (13-1) was led by senior Lamonte Bearden with 24 points.

Earlier this season, the Warhawks had surpassed Whitefish Bay Dominican’s mark of 62 in a row set from 1977 to 1980.
