Girls athlete of the week: Paige Beuning, St. Cloud Tech

* Year in school/sport: A senior at St. Cloud Cathedral on the Tech gymnastics team.

* Highlights: Beuning earned her fourth straight trip to the state meet by finishing second in the all-around at the Section 8-2A championships Saturday at Moorhead. Beuning scored a 37.85 as the Tigers earned their ninth straight state berth.

* What has competing in athletics taught you? “Definitely teamwork and also how to respect everyone, not just the people that are above you, but also the people who below you.”

* What’s your most memorable high school moment? “Probably this weekend because it was just so fun. I’m on a high because I am so happy for the team.”

* What’s your most embarrassing high school moment? “This is hard. In lunch one time, I bet one of my friends I could balance my water bottle on my head while I dumped my tray and I did it. The whole lunch room started clapping.”

* Favorite food: Spaghetti or ice cream.

* Favorite movie: “Despicable Me.”

* Favorite TV show: “Grey’s Anatomy.”

* Favorite Web site/video game: Wanelo.com. It’s a shopping site. She’s not a gamer.

* What are your post-high-school plans? She’s planning to attend St. Cloud State and looking at a possible business major.

* What’s next? Beuning is headed to the state meet for the fourth straight year. She and the Tigers compete at 6 p.m. Friday at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis.

She competes in the individual meet Saturday.
