After one season at the helm of the Manitowoc Lincoln girls basketball team, head coach Kate Deiters announced her resignation on Monday.
“I made this decision and it was not easy,” Deiters said in a press release. “It’s been a great pleasure working with the young women in this program, but it’s time for me to be closer to my family and focus on my career.”
“I’d like to thank the administration, parents, players and fans for all of their support this past season. I wish the Ships nothing but the very best in the future.”
Lincoln finished the past season 6-10 in the FRCC and 9-14 overall.
“Kate did an unbelievable job coaching our girl’s team this season in a very difficult situation,” Lincoln athletic director John Johnson said. “She is one of the most positive young coaches I’ve ever been around and she has an incredibly bright future in this profession.”
“We wish Coach Deiters the best of luck in her future and will miss having her on the sidelines in the JFK next season.”
