With 30 seconds left in the game, Ashwaubenon drained a 3-pointer against the host Manitowoc Lincoln girls basketball team to force overtime. It ended up the final points the Jaguars would score as the Ships kept the visitors off the board in the extra period to win 52-44 on Tuesday.

Lincoln outscored Ashwaubenon 8-0 in the final frame to improve to 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the Fox River Classic Conference.

“I’m extremely proud how our girls hustled, battled and controlled the game when it needed to be controlled,” Lincoln coach Kate Deiters said of her team’s defensive performance in overtime. “We played an outstanding, aggressive style of defense down the stretch. I couldn’t be more pleased.”

The Ships’ offense was orchestrated through Alyssa Fischer, who scored a game-high 21 points while teammates Alyssa Grotegut (13) and Hailee Kotche (12) were both in double figures.
