By

East Troy 34, Mayville 33: Cardinals’ Mattie Klingenmeyer hit a basket with three seconds left but time expired as the Trojans held on to a close win.

Mayville had a chance to hit a game-tying three, but instead settled for a two-point basket and Mayville was out of timeouts, allowing East Troy to hold on to the win.

Klingenmeyer had 10 points to lead the Cardinals while Paige Persha added four points and 14 rebounds. As a team, the Cardinals had 17 offensive rebounds.

“We played awesome defense, I’m so proud of our defense,” Mayville head coach Barry Nelson said. “Our rebounding was stellar once again. It was a tough, hard fought game and we just came up a bit short. I’m very happy with where we’re at.”
