When the Louisiana High School Athletic Association girls’ basketball playoff brackets are released on Monday, 12 teams from Caddo and Bossier parishes are expected to find out where they are headed in the postseason.
An additional 13 area teams should find their way into the party, if the current power ratings hold true to form. Most of first-round games will be played on Thursday.
The once-beaten North Caddo Lady Rebels (28-1), whose only loss came at the hands of Mansfield in early December, should land a No. 1 seed in Class 2A, making the club among five local teams with home games.
Defending 5A state champion Southwood (23-6) and Chelsea Tieuel will land a home game with a No. 8 or 9 seed, while Fair Park (20-9), champion of District 1-4A, will be at home at No. 7. Benton (20-11), which recovered after losing senior Madi Sessions, gets into the home court fun even though the Lady Tigers finished 5-4 in district play.
Featuring the speedy Princess Davis, Green Oaks (22-5) in 3A will also be at home, after finishing as co-District 1-3A champion with Mansfield (25-6), the No. 7 seed in that class.
Local road teams will be Airline (17-12) and Haughton (22-8) in 5A, while Loyola, Huntington and Woodlawn in 4A will also be traveling. Evangel in 2A and Plain Dealing in 1A are the other Caddo-Bossier schools due to get road playoff contests.
Area teams earning a playoff spot will be 5A Natchitoches Central, 2A Lakeview and Red River, 1A Arcadia, Logansport and Cedar Creek and Class B Stanley, Florien, Castor, Doyline and Zwolle.
