Jenny Caoili scored four goals to lead a balanced scoring effort, as the Arlington High School girls lacrosse team went on the road and beat Hendrick Hudson 13-8 on Friday in Montrose.
“This is a big win for us,” said Arlington coach Dan Schmitt, whose team improved to 2-1. “We haven’t beaten Hendrick Hudson since 2009. It was nice to finally break through.”
In addition to Caoili, a junior who led her team in scoring a year ago with 44 goals, junior Lizzie Schlissel scored three goals. The two Admirals have each scored 10 goals this season.
Schmitt said Schlissel came off the bench last season, and has been a great asset to the team as a starting center midfielder this year.
“She has a really high IQ for an athlete,” Schmitt said. “She’s a basketball player. She has really quick feet. She reads lanes really well and knows how to go to the goal. She’s aggressive.”
Abby Carlin and Rachel Olsen scored twice each for Arlington, and Taylor Nyberg and Taryn Murphy each scored once. Goaltender Maryn Lowell made nine saves for Arlington.
The Admirals will play Monday at Middletown.
“The girls are starting to play well,” Schmitt said. “Hopefully we can keep it rolling.”
