Girls soccer: Fond du Lac edges WLA with strong 1st half

By

Fond du Lac 2, WLA 0: The Cardinals got both goals in the first half, coming from Kelsey Schneider and Ashley Kleinmaus in an intercity game at the Fondy Soccer Complex.

Kleinmaus and Jenna Kryzanowski had assists as Fond du Lac moved to 13-6 on the season on their Senior Night.

“We had a well-played game tonight,” Cardinals coach Greg Winkler said. “We kept it a little more low-key and it was good for both teams with it being our third game in a row and WLA getting ready for the playoffs.”

Emma Trapp made a dozen saves for the Vikings, while Brianna Hubbard had two for Fondy in the shutout.

“I was very proud of how hard my players fought throughout the game,” WLA coach David Haag said. “Coach Winkler has a very talented and fast Cardinal team and we had to work hard to keep the game close, which our girls did.”
