Girls soccer: Kewaskum downs Campbellsport in 2 OT

By

Kewaskum 3, Campbellsport 2 (2 OT): The Cougars had an all-too familiar result Friday, suffering their seventh one-goal loss of the season as the Indians scored 3 minutes into double overtime on a free kick from Elisabeth Bauer.

Campbellsport (4-12-1) gave up two goals within the first four minutes before rallying with second-half goals from Brooke Birschbach and Tiffani Anderson to tie it.

The first 10-minute overtime went scoreless and then Campbellsport was called for a foul deep in its zone early in the second to set up Bauer’s kick.

“We’re setting a record in the state for one-goal losses this year I think,” Cougars coach Mark Peterson said with a laugh. “But I’m really happy with the way we played in the second half coming back.”

Campbellsport will try and avenge the loss when it plays at Kewaskum next Thursday in a WIAA Division 2 Regional Semifinal.
