Golf: Scooter Brickey dominates junior tour event at Black River

Scooter Brickey of Burtchville shot a 1-under-par 70 Thursday to claim the boys 14- and 15-year-old division title at the Blue Water Junior Golf Tour event at Black River Country Club.

The impressive round gave Brickey a 16-stroke victory in the division, with Steven Whittlesey coming in second at 86 and Nick Bailey in third at 87.

Brickey had five birdies on the day, and shot a 34 on the front 9 and a 36 on the back.

Katelin Randolph also had an impressive round, as the reigning Times Herald Girls Golfer of the Year shot an 82 to claim Flight A of the girls 14-18 division. Delaney Barr was second with a 96.

Emma Kerr won Flight B, shooting a 97, nine strokes ahead of Libby Huston, who was second.

Richmond’s Noah Kosal won the boys 16-18 division, shooting an 86. His high school teammate Colten Christensen was second with a 90.

Jacob Parsons shot a 47 to win the boys 10-11 division by two strokes over Matt Monaghan.

Brandi Kautz shot 65 to win the girls 10-11 division by two strokes over Danielle Locke.

Wyatt Watson shot a 41 to win the boys 12-13 division, five strokes ahead of Owen Kosal. Carter Barron was two strokes behind Kosal for third, shooting a 48.

Gabriella Locke shot a 54 for a one-stroke win over Brenna Johnson in the girls 12-13 division.

John Betrus won the nine-hole division of the boys 14-15 age group, shooting a 48. Carson Mills and Alex Walton were each three strokes back at 51.

The girls nine-hole division for in the 14-15 age group was won by Sydney Marrone, who shot a 59. Tyler Kautz was two strokes back in second place.

The tour returns to action at Burning Tree Golf and Country Club in Macomb.
