Goode's walkoff wins it for Post 70

Ryan Goode was in the right place at the right time, and with the right swing Wednesday.

Goode’s two-run walkoff homer with a full count and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning gave Asheville Post 70 a dramatic 8-6 home win over Hickory.

Goode (Roberson) was 3-for-4 with three RBIs at the plate for Post 70 (17-7) which now leads the second round, best-of-five American Legion playoff series, 2-1.

Asheville is only one win away from matching its single-season record (18).

Carson Jones (North Buncombe) pitched the first seven innings Wednesday before giving way to Casey Williams (Reynolds). Trevor Stockhausen (Reynolds) was 3-for-5 with a home run and Seth George (Enka) went 1-3 with a homer.

Game 4 is Thursday at Hickory with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. If necessary, Game 5 will be played at Erwin on Friday at 5.
