Tennis clinics offered in GL

GRAND LEDGE – Are you interested in learning how to play tennis? Coach Richey and his staff will be offering a tennis clinic June 16-20.

Participants can be from age 4 through high school and all participants will receive a special Grand Ledge Tennis item.

Swim lessons offered in Delta

DELTA TWP. – Delta Township Aquatics is offering swim lessons for children and adults, with private lessons also available. The pool is located at Waverly East Intermediate School. Call the Aquatics office at (517) 484-5600 or visit

Volleyball camp offered in June

The Grand Ledge Lady Comets Volleyball Boosters is now accepting sign-up forms for its summer camp in June.

This camp will be held June 23-26 at Hayes Middle School. It’s open to girls entering grades 3rd-6th in the fall of 2014.

This camp will be instructed be GLHS varsity coach Bob Alim-Young with assistance from GL coaches and current players.

Pre-register by of June 13 for $65, includes a camp T-shirt (size not guaranteed). Fee increases to $75 after.

GLHS Sideline cheer sets tryouts

GRAND LEDGE – Tryouts are set for the GLHS Sideline season. Tryout Clinics: Tuesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 29, 3:15-5:30 p.m., Sawdon Gym.

Try-outs: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, June 1, 2, 3 – 3:15-5:30 p.m., Sawdon Gym.

Bye to sponsor cheer BBQ June 13

GRAND LEDGE – Join Chuck Bye and GLHS Cheer for a $5 hamburger/cheeseburger lunch on Friday, June 13, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Lunch includes the burger, chips, pop and cookie. Order forms will be dropped off at local businesses and teams will deliver your lunch for free.

Pom clinic scheduled for June 7

GRAND LEDGE – Grand Ledge Pompon will be holding its first annual spring pom clinic for grades K-6 on Saturday, June 7, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Hayes Middle School. Cost is $25.

Golf fundraiser to be held June 7

SUNFIELD – Blessings in a Backpack-Grand Ledge and Caring Neighbor Foundation are combining efforts with a golf fundraiser on Saturday, June 7, 2:30 p.m. at Centennial Acres in Sunfield. The price per golfer is $65.

Lacrosse golf outing set

GRAND LEDGE – The second annual Grand Ledge lacrosse golf outing will be held Sunday, June 1, at Centennial Acres. Shotgun start at 9 a.m. for the 18-hole four-person scramble.

Hole-in-one competitions for a chance to win a 2014 Chevrolet Impala, two four-day-three-night golf getaways and a head-to-toe outfit along with a $500 shopping spree.

GRAND LEDGE – GLAYF/GLAYC online registration is in progress for grades 4-8.

The deadline for early registration is June 1; afterward a $40 late registration fee will be imposed; registration closes on Aug. 1.

Softball camp starts June 23

GRAND LEDGE – The Grand Ledge High School Softball Boosters will be conducting a softball camp the week of June 23 at the high school softball complex.

Each day, sign-in will be at 9:30 a.m.; training will begin at 10 a.m. and concludes at noon. Head Coach Pat Malloy, as well as other coaches, players, and former players will be in attendance for coaching and speaking.

The camp is open to all area ladies entering the third grade up to in-going seniors, and is not limited to the Grand Ledge School District.

Cost is $25 a day, or $100 for all four days, $80 for all four days early registration prior to June 16.

Concessions will be open during the camp. Participants should come dressed for the weather and age-appropriate gear (cleats, sliding shorts, batting helmet, etc.)

Girls basketball camp offered

GRAND LEDGE – The Grand Ledge Girls Basketball Summer Camp is open to girls entering grades K-8 in the fall of 2014. It will run Monday, June 16-Thursday, June 19. The camp will be led by GLHS girls varsity coach Dave Jones, with assistance from other GL coaches and current players.

Students entering grades K-2 from 9-10 a.m., entering grades 3-5 from 10-noon; entering grades 6-8 from 1-3 p.m.

It will be at Grand Ledge High School (new gym). Cost: K-2: $25 per student, 3-8: $45 per student or $40 if registered by May 17.

Walk-ins will be accommodated, if space is available, at a cost of $50.
