Bella Kendrick dished out 16 assists to help Class A No. 3 Central Catholic volleyball sweep Hoosier Conference rival Rensselaer 25-12, 25-9, 25-14 Monday night.
The Knights had a balanced attacking night, led by Cameron Onken with eight kills and Emily Burke with seven. Sammy Bonner and Jenna Corbett anchored a strong CC serving game. Elaine Davis and Lindsey Powers led the Knights in digs with four apiece. Onken led the defense at the net with four blocks.
North White 3, Lafayette Jeff 1
Lexi Randolph put down 10 kills, but the visiting Bronchos fell 25-19, 22-25, 25-14, 25-19.
Madison Flanagan led Jeff with 17 digs and three aces.
Kalene Ruemler paced North White with 13 kills on .300 hitting. Alex Ruemler handed out 18 assists.
Benton Central 3, Tri-County 0
Ally Best just missed a double-double with 10 assists and eight digs, and Benton Central opened its high school volleyball season with a 25-7, 25-16, 25-4 sweep of visiting Tri-County.
Kaylan Coffman had seven kills and Ally Souligne put down six to lead the Bison’s hitting attack. Rachel Payne led BC with 10 digs.
Leandra Bahler had 12 digs for Tri-County.
Winamac 3, Twin Lakes 1
Caitlin White pulled up 26 digs and Bree Baldini passed out 17 assists for the host Indians in their opener, a 23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-16 loss.
Laurhen Pickett led the hitting attack with seven kills.
Harrison 5, Central Catholic 2
Katie Musi helped the Raiders start the season with a big win, scoring twice and handing out an assist.
Olivia Geswein also scored two goals for Harrison.
Lauren Pannell and Maggie Bobillo scored for the Knights, who trailed 3-1 at halftime.
West Lafayette 8, Northwestern 0
The top-ranked Red Devils got two goals apiece from Freyda Mannering and Kasey Touloukian in the road victory.
Fishers 6, McCutcheon 2
Makayla Merriman scored a goal and assisted on Koral Briggs’ goal, but Fishers outshot the Mavericks 15-3 in their opener.
Covington 7, North Montgomery 0
Zeb Newlin and Travis Coleman each scored twice for the host Trojans in their season opener.
Corey Clark contributed a pair of assists to help Covington outshoot the Chargers 24-3 on goal.
