Jordan Hackworth won three individual events and was a member of a winning relay, but the Ithaca High boys still fell to Corning, 84-57, in Southern Tier Athletic Conference track and field action at Bredbenner Field.
Hackworth won the 100 meters (11.47 seconds), the 200 (23.14) and the long jump (21 feet, 5 inches) and ran the third leg of the 400 relay, which won in 46.88 seconds. The relay consisted of Darren Smith, Dion Dean, Hackworth and Marlo Zorman.
Ithaca’s other two winners were Oseoba Airewele in the triple jump (43-8) and Jakob Markwardt in the pole vault (11-6).
Sam Chauvin won the 800 and 1,600 for Corning, and the Hawks’ Seth Spicer won the shot put and discus.
On the girls’ side, Corning rolled past the Little Red, 102-39. Ithaca’s only three victories came in the field, where Ihotu Onah won both the shot put (31-1) and discus (100-1), and Sylvie Studier took the pole vault (8-0).
Ithaca 7, Binghamton 0: The Little Red improved to 5-0 with a dominating victory over the Patriots (0-5).
No Ithaca player lost more than a game in any set, and Kevin Huang (second singles) and eighth-grader Michael Zhao (fourth singles) both won at love. Two of Ithaca’s three doubles teams also won without dropping a game.
