Either way, Weddington is in for a tough match on September 17 against the number-one-ranked team in North Carolina

CHINA GROVE, N.C. – It has been a week since the Weddington Warriors have taken the pitch. On one hand it gives coach Williams a chance to rest up his players, on the other hand it could mess with the team’s chemistry and fluidity. Either way, Weddington is in for a tough match on September 17 against the number-one-ranked team in North Carolina, according to eurosportsscoreboard.com.

Jesse C. Carson High School will play on September 16 against a good Concord Spider team that is 6-3 on the season. The Carson Cougars are averaging a blistering 3.5 goals in the first 40 minutes of action. Led by junior Brandon Flores, who has 13 goals on the young season, the Cougars are looking to keep their number one ranking.

The Weddington Warriors are highly touted and should not be overlooked. The Warriors come in as the number-one-ranked team in the Charlotte Observer sweet 16. Weddington is averaging four goals per game and has 41 on the season. Senior Chris O’ Grady leads the team with 12 goals while Ethan McClain has dished out nine assists this season.

Weddington will really benefit having a week off while Carson will have to travel to the Spiders nest to take on Concord.

Expect coach Williams to have his team focused and ready to roll into the Cougar Den.

PREDICTION: Weddington walks away with a 5-4 victory and proclaims itself as the best team in the state.
