High school basketball | Burton (20 points) leads North Oldham over South Oldham 76-63


Trevor Burton scored 20 points as host North Oldham beat archrival South Oldham 76-63 Monday night in boys’ high school basketball.

Jon-Jon Henry added 19 points for the victorious Mustangs, who improved to 15-3. Kyle Young led the Dragons (11-12) with 17 points, and teammate Michael Griffin added 14 points.

In other boys’ games:

* Christian Academy 80, Kentucky Country Day 73: Anthony Mathis poured in a game-high 30 points for the Bearcats (14-10), but it was not enough to defeat the host Centurions (9-13). Tony Colley collected a team-high 26 points for CAL, and teammate Gregory Frist added 21 points. KCD’s Malyiek McCray scored 20 points.

* Collegiate 56, Walden 49: Bryce Overstreet led the Titans (8-9) past the visiting Wolverines (7-12) with 15 points. Walden’s Charles Thomas led all scorers with 34 points.

* St. Francis 61, Kentucky School for the Deaf 32: The Wyverns (11-11) outscored their opponents in three out of four quarters to overcome the visiting Colonels (12-12). David Borders led the Wyverns with 23 points.

* Spencer County 71, Owen County 51: Mackenzie Myers scored 30 points and seventh-grader Alyssa Howie scored 20 points to lift the Bears (5-17) past the visiting Rebels (0-18). Morgan Ellis and Molly Gamble each scored nine points for Owen County.

* Oldham County 75, Grant County 53: Ashley McMurtrey scored 19 points to help lead the Colonels (11-7) past the host Braves. Jenna Martin led Grant County with 19 points.

* Bullitt Central 64, Bardstown 53 (OT): The Tigers (9-14) fell to the Cougars (12-11) in overtime with leading scorer Breanna Richardson scoring 13 points. Sophomore Alexis Graham hit a free throw in the last few seconds for the Cougars to send the game into overtime.

The Tigers were led by senior Kasia Stone with five 3-pointers and a total of 19 points.

* Mercy 63, Montgomery County 57: Hannah Bewley paced the victorious Jaguars (11-11) with 19 points while teammate Malarie Martin chipped in 15 points. Skylar Tipton netted 19 points for the Indians (9-12).

* Christian Academy 55, Kentucky Country Day 19: Brittany Mumford had eight points and pulled down eight rebounds as the Centurions (11-12) routed the Bearcats (7-15). McKenzie Campbell added seven points and seven rebounds, as 10 players scored for the Centurions.

* St. Francis 21, Kentucky School for the Deaf 17: The host Wyverns (1-8) broke a 15-15 tie at the end of the third quarter by holding their opponents to two fourth-quarter points. Grace Edwards and Jessi Lowe had six points apiece to lead the winners.
