High school basketball | St. X rallies late but falls to Eastern 85-80 in OT


St. Xavier rallied against Eastern to send the game to overtime, but lost 85-80 on Tuesday night in boys’ high school basketball.

The Eagles (13-4), who shot 22 of 27 from the free-throw line, were led by Cameron Reed with 22 points.

Robert Shaw scored 28 points for the host Tigers (15-4), who had rallied to tie the score at 73-73. St. X had won its previous four overtime contests.

In other boys’ games:

The Chargers (10-9) came out of halftime and used a strong defense to beat the visiting Wildcats (8-9). Chip Adkisson connected on eight 3-pointers, scoring a team high 28 points for Whitfield while Brandon Johnson hit six 3-pointers leading J’town with 23 points.* Jeffersontown 82, Whitefield Academy 66:

* The Colts (15-5) were led by junior Chase Shellman with 16 points to help send the Titans (7-8) home with a loss. Leading scorer for the Titans was senior Bryce Overstreet with 31 points. DeSales 77, Collegiate 46:

: Cameron Dawson scored 26 points as the Hawks (11-9) cruised past the visiting Eagles (7-12). Matt Gabbard scored 23 points and Justin Smith added 12 for Evangel.* LaRue County 82, Evangel 45

The Mustangs (9-9) were led by Jon Jon Henry, who had 15 points to in the victory over KCD (13-7). The Bearcats’ Colin Ferguson led all scorers with 17.* North Oldham 72, KCD 48:

: The host Titans (17-2) defeated the Yellow Jackets (11-10) behind Ralphael Stone’s 19 points. The Yellow Jackets were led by Samuel Souers with 15 points.* Collins 62, Woodford County 42

: Michael Stafford led the Shamrocks (16-3) to a road win over the Wildcats (11-6) with 19 points. Davon Cooper led Waggener with 14 points.* Trinity 71, Waggener 51

The Raiders (15-3) blew past the Rebels (5-12) with 15 offensive rebounds and 13 3-pointers. Jalen Martin scored 26 points for the Raiders. Carson King scored 32 points for the Rebels.The Raiders forced 28 turnovers.* Iroquois 95, Atherton 50:

: Caleb Longacre and Cory Thomas combined for 51 points with 28 and 23, respectively, to help the Chargers (15-4) down the Bulldogs (8-10).
