Cory Thomas’ 3-pointer from the left wing with 1.2 seconds to play gave Fairdale a 67-65 boys’ basketball victory at DeSales on Saturday night.

The 22-footer capped a huge comeback for the Bulldogs (10-17), who trailed by 23 midway through the third quarter but outscored DeSales 28-7 in the fourth.

After falling behind, the Colts (19-8) tied it at 64 when Nick Phillips’ steal led to Chase Shellman’s basket with seven seconds left. After Thomas’ 3-pointer, Phillips missed on a desperation heave from halfcourt.

Thomas led Fairdale with 22 points, and Caleb Longacre added 20. Shaun Sullivan led DeSales with 17.

Dominique Mack and Jacob Lehmann had double-doubles as the host Cougars (21-7) extended their school record for victories. The previous mark had been 19 in the 2006-07 season.* Holy Cross 78, Male 69:

Mack had 24 points and 12 rebounds, and Lehmann added 17 and 10.

The Bulldogs (14-15) were led by P.J. Scott with 19 points.

Eighth-grader Austin Streble poured in 30 points, including six 3-point baskets, to lead the Bearcats (11-13) past the Eagles (11-17) in the Kentucky Christian Athletic Conference Tournament final at Portland Christian. It was the second title in three years for Beth Haven, which led 32-21 at halftime.* Beth Haven 69, Evangel Christian 53:

Matt Gabbard had 16 points for Evangel Christian, which knocked off defending champion Portland Christian in a morning semifinal.


Emma Wesley caught an inbound pass and made a layup with 2.1 seconds to play, lifting the host Centurions (15-13) over the Eagles (19-7). It gave her a game-high 26 points.* Christian Academy 65, North Bullitt 63:

Christian Academy also had double-doubles from Brittany Mumford (12 points and 13 rebounds) and Kayla Bowman (10 and 10). Katie Downey paced North Bullitt with 19 points.

Carnethia Brown had 19 points and Rayven Shead 15 as the host Panthers (17-8) held off the Valkyries (22-7). Raven Merriweather scored 19 and Daijia Ruffin 17 for Sacred Heart.* Pleasure Ridge Park 61, Sacred Heart 54:

Sarah Roaden had 21 points and Dayne Merkley 18 as the Cougars (11-13) doubled up the Bearcats (11-14) to win the KCAC Tournament at Portland Christian. Lina Brown had 14 points for Beth Haven, which beat Christian Fellowship 45-27 in the semifinals.
