High school roundup: Hanock softball team moves on in Class D

Second-seeded Hancock posted 25 hits to dominate visiting Gilbertsville-Mount Upton 23-0 in a softball Class D sectional matchup.

Hancock scored eight runs in the fourth inning to pull away. The Wildcats piled on seven more in the fifth, as Caitlin Wormuth hit a three-run homer. She finished with three hits and four RBIs.

Megan Hunter and Natasha Picozzi also lit up the scoreboard, each batting 4-for-5 and recording seven combined RBIs. Lea Newman prevented any rallies from the Raiders with 13 strikeouts and two hits to earn the win.

Union-Endicott 7, Oneonta 0: At U-E, Alexis Eastman pitched a one-hitter and struck out 14 to take control for the Tigers in a non-league matchup. Eastman also batted 4-for-4 with three RBIs, while Skyler Hoyt added two RBIs and three runs scored and Marissa Parsons went 2-for-2.
