Johnson City’s Stella Safari scored three overtime goals, leading the Wildcat girls lacrosse team to a 15-10 OT victory over Seton Catholic Central in Thursday’s Section 4 game played at Traditions at the Glen.
Safari would finish with a game-high five goals, and teammate Emily Russin would net four, including one in overtime when the visitors outscored the Saints 5-0. Madeline Gowan’s lone goal game with approximately three minutes left in regulation, tying the game at 10-all and goalie Becky Conklin finished with 15 saves.
Maeghan O’Brien scored four goals and Justine Johnson netted two to lead SCC (3-6).
Corning 14, Horseheads 2: At Horseheads, the Hawks went on an 8-0 in the first half to seal the Section 4 victory. Neena Merola registered five goals and four assists and Taylor Mathis added five goals and an assist for the Hawks.
Ithaca 11, Binghamton 6: At Ithaca, Molly Long registered five goals and two assists, and Julie Mieuttunen finished with three goals and an assist to lead the Little Red.
Binghamton’s Katie Gaudet and Molly Martinichio each notched three goals and an assist.
Chenango Forks 19, Elmira 5: At Elmira, Sierra Torillo recorded nine goals and five assists to lead Forks in Section 4 play. Taylor Gibbore added four goals for the Blue Devils, and teammate Tory Doll added a hat trick.
Vestal 18, Union-Endicott 3: At U-E, Vestal controlled shots, ground balls, and draws to earn a Section 4 win. Nicole Lyons posted four goals and Julia Lovaglia scored a hat trick and an assist to lead the Bears.
Elmira Notre Dame 15, Owego 10: At Owego, Jonas McCaig and Brandon Mahajan registered six goals and three assists apiece to lead Notre Dame to a Section 4 victory. The Crusaders (4-8) outscored the hosts 6-1 in the fourth quarter to pull away.
Owego sophomore Pat Bilbrey recorded seven goals and an assist, and teammate Tyler Ford tallied a goal and an assist.
Tioga 15, Odessa-Montour 0: At Tioga, Sam Wood pitched a perfect five-inning game for the Tigers, striking out 12, scoring three times, and batting 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and five RBIs.
Elmira 13, Ithaca 0: At Elmira, Emily Saltsman went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Express, while Abbie Topping drove in two runs from two hits.
Union-Endicott 7, Vestal 3: At U-E, Nick Yesnesky hit an RBI sac fly to score Joey Orlando, putting the Tigers up 5-1 in the fifth inning. C.J. Korwiak hit a two-out RBI single in the sixth inning to seal the victory for U-E (9-0).
Maine-Endwell 11, Binghamton 3: At Binghamton, Alex Zimmerman tallied six strikeouts and two walks to lead the Spartans defense, while Brandon Wanchison had three RBIs to top the Patriots. M-E’s Kyle Ballmer finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
Owego 11, Chenango Valley 4: At Owego, Zach Zielinski and Steven Rando each recorded 3-for-3 performances to help the Indians (4-5) to their second straight STAC victory. Zielinski finished with two doubles and three RBIs, and Rando added two RBIs.
Owego pitcher Mike Caprari tossed a complete game, striking out twelve.
Tioga 11, Odessa-Montour 2: At Tioga, freshman pitcher Parker Hendershot recorded nine strikeouts, a walk, two hits, and allowed only one earned run for the Tigers. Teammate Peter Simmons batted 4-for-4 with three doubles, three runs scored, and three RBIs to control the IAC matchup.
Lansing 12, Marathon 2: At Lansing, Ben Cutler and Brandon Mikula each notched two hits to lead Lansing (8-4) to an IAC victory. The Bobcats scored six runs in the first inning, with Owen Davis driving in three with his triple.
Newfield 4, Spencer-Van Etten 0: At Spencer-Van Etten, Leif Pakkala registered 10 strikeouts and hit a double to shut down the Panthers.
