A three-run home run by Kim Jones led Maine-Endwell to a 4-2 Southern Tier Athletic Conference softball victory Tuesday at Union-Endicott.
Jones’ blast came in the top of the third inning with runners abroad via bases on balls. The line drive over the left field fence turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 advantage.
Mikayla Kylm pitched a complete game with six strikeouts, earning the victory. Natalie Knight went 2-for-3 with a double for M-E (7-0).
Johnson City 8, Seton CC 7: At Johnson City, Josie Rivera led off the eighth inning with a single and scored the winning run from second base two bunts and a throwing error later. The Saints made it 7-7 when Claire Loughlin scored from third on a two-out passed ball.
Alex Hein was 3-for-4, Jill Burns had two doubles and two RBIs, and Lydia Ladd drove in three runs for JC. The Saints’ Abby Galyon and Lexi Levy had two hits apiece.
Windsor 2, Susquehanna Valley 0: At Windsor, Mara Kohlbach tossed a one-hitter to lead the Black Knights (5-0). Kohlbach finished with nine strikeouts, two walks and didn’t allow a runner past second base. The hit she allowed was an infield single in the top of the seventh inning.
Allison Lockwood scored both of Windsor’s runs and Paige Rauch had both RBI.
Afton 19, Walton 0: At Afton, Sierra Palmatier finished 2-for-4 with a pair of triples and five RBIs in the Midstate Athletic Conference game.
Bainbridge-Guilford 11, Oxford 7: At Oxford, Rheia Benedict went 2-for-2 with a triple, two walks and an RBI, but Oxford dropped its MAC game.
Corning 7, Ithaca 1: At Corning, Nick Westgate doubled twice and Ryan Walker was 2-for-3 and scored twice for the Hawks (5-1) in the STAC win. Zachary Sullivan erased the host’s early deficit with a two-run, second-inning home run.
Susquehanna Valley 8, Windsor 0: At Windsor, Dave Matthews tossed a two-hitter to lead the Sabers (2-4). Matthews struck out six without a walk. Ryan Caroway went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs.
Waverly 3, Elmira Notre Dame 0: At Waverly, Dylan Perry pitched a shutout to propel the Wolverines to an Interscholastic Athletic Conference victory.
Sidney 4, Deposit 3: At Sidney, Brandon Bessett had a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh to lead Sidney (7-3) to a MAC victory.
Owego 10, Johnson City 7: Andrea Zlinsky finished with four goals and an assist, helping the Indians (4-1) to the victory. Bre Howe added three goals and Caitlin Watson contributed two goals and an assist for Owego, which jumped to a 5-0 lead in the first eight minutes.
Gabrielle Moran and Emily Russin each had two goals and an assist for JC (4-3).
Chenango Forks 20, Seton CC 11: At CF, five players scored at least three goals as Chenango Forks improved to a 3-6 record.
Boys track and field
Binghamton 72, Union-Endicott 60: At U-E, Jesus Caballero won the high jump and ran legs of the winning 400- and 1,600-meter relays.
Girls track and field
Binghamton 66, Union-Endicott 66: At U-E, Emily MacKay won the 800-, 1,500- and 3,000-meter races, and contributed to the winning 3,200 relay. The Patriots’ Jasmine Howard won the the 100 and 200 and ran a leg of the winning 400 relay, and teammate Madeah Oranchak was tops in the 400, long jump, and triple jump.
