The Maine-Endwell boys tennis team edged visiting Norwich, 4-3, in Tuesday’s Southern Tier Athletic Conference semifinal.
With the win, the Spartans (11-4) will host Ithaca in Monday’s STAC final at 3 p.m. Ithaca beat Johnson City, 7-0.
The senior-duo of Brian Talbot and EJ Porcari won a three set thriller — 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 — at second doubles to seal the victory. Down 5-4 in the third set, Talbot and Porcari fought off four match points before taking the next three games.
Other winners for M-E were Stephen Pham at second singles, Alec Greene at fourth singles and the third doubles tandem of Maverick Talboys and Ryan Moses.
Norwich’s Zan Stewart won in straight sets at first singles.
Windsor 10, Seton Catholic Central 0: At Windsor, Mara Kohlbach tossed a two-hitter and Jordyn Steele belted a two-run homer as the Black Knights (17-1) won to finish STAC regular season play at 16-0.
Steele’s two-run homer came in Windsor’s six-run sixth inning. Rachel DeAngelo and Allison Lockwood also drove in two runs each and Kylie Buchek went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Windsor.
Maine-Endwell 8, Elmira 3: At M-E, Danielle Dean went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run and teammate Kim Jones pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Spartans (12-3) rolled to a STAC win.
Owego 5, Chenango Forks 1: At Owego, Allie Heeman pitched a complete game and hit a double and teammate Kim Lavender went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Indians win.
Johnson City 7, Norwich 6: At Norwich, Alexis Stetts finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and teammate Alyssa Boulter added a 3-for-4 performance with two runs scored as the Wildcats (6-9) won a conference game.
Hannah Eddy went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Breanna Cashman finished 3-for-4 with an RBI for Norwich (5-11).
Union-Endicott 13, Ithaca 4: At U-E, the Tigers scored seven runs in the fourth inning to break the game open. CJ Krowiak hit a three RBI triple and Jared McStine added a two RBI single to put the hosts up 10-1 after four. U-E finishes regular season play with a 15-1 record and is the STAC Metro division champions.
Seton CC 1, Windsor 0: At Windsor, the Saints scored on a throwing error with two outs and two strikes in the first inning. Jake Conroy recorded 11 strikeouts and allowed two hits for Windsor, but the Black Knights couldn’t start their offense.
Maine-Endwell 9, Elmira 0: At M-E, Alex Zimmerman tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out six and walking none in the STAC victory. M-E’s Darnell Woolfolk hit a three run home run in the fifth inning and finished 4-for-4 with four RBIs.
Corning 8, Binghamton 4: At Corning West, losing pitcher Matt Fiacco finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Binghamton.
Norwich 6, Johnson City 1: At Norwich, the Purple Tornado (10-7) scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to cruise to a STAC win. Collin Fern finsihed 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Robert Jeffrey added a two RBI triple in the fourth inning. Winning pitcher Cody Barnes allowed just four hits and walked only one.
Hancock 12, Susquehanna (P.A.) 3: At Susquehanna, Ryan Smith and Eli Holton each went 3-for-5 as Hancock (13-4) cruised to a non-conference win.
