Paul Bischoff led all scorers with 23 points as host Oneonta defeated Susquehanna Valley 60-49 in a Section 4 Class B boys basketball semifinal on Friday.
Oneonta will meet unbeaten Norwich in the Section 4 Class B final on March at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. It will be the third meeting between the two teams, with the Purple Tornado winning the previous two.
Bischoff’s 23-point outing featured 11-for-14 shooting from the free-throw line, including 7-for-8 in the final quarter to help the Yellowjackets stave off an SV combeack.
Dave Matthews scored 20 points and Shaynne Rodriguez added 10 for Susquehanna Valley (12-9).
Moravia 82, Spencer-Van Etten 31: At Moravia, Chandler Benson scored 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked eight shots as second-seeded Moravia (18-1) dominated Spencer-Van Etten to advance in Class C. Benson became Moravia’s all time leading scorer with the outing, giving him 1,120 career points.
Newfield 60, Unadila Valley 45: At Newfield, Alex Fuller scored nine of his 13 in the fourth quarter as the third-seeded Trojans (17-2) advanced to the Class C semifinals. Brian Barrett added 14 points and Dekhari stewart 13.
Notre Dame 74, Marathon 52: At Notre Dame, Jonas McCaig scored 19 points as top-seeded Elmira Notre Dame pulled away in the second half to beat Marathon in Class C play.
The Crusaders host fourth seeded Watkins Glen in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Edmeston 67, Stamford 49: At Edmeston, Linton Wainwright scored 18 points and Logan Vibbard added 15 as top seeded Edmeston cruised into the Class D semifinals.
Charlotte Valley 42, Laurens 35: At CV, Matt Finne tallied 17 points leading second seeded Charlotte Valley into the Class D semifinals. It plays No. 6 South Kortright on Thursday at SUNY Oneonta. A time has yet to be announced.
