HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Toms River North boys basketball team beats Toms River South


Placing three scorers in double figures, the Toms River North boys basketball team defeated Toms River South 67-57 in Shore Conference Class A South on Friday night.

Junior forward Jordan Craig led the Mariners (11-10, 7-6) with 18 points. Sophomore guard Pat Marinaccio added 16. Junior guard Ted Thelemaque contributed 15.

Senior Marquis Davis paced the Indians (13-7, 8-6) with 22 points. Senior Darius Hart added 10.

The Mariners buried the Indians under a 28-9 third-quarter avalanche for a 55-36 lead. Craig keyed the spree with nine of his 11 second-half points. Freshman guard Mike Nyisztor put home two treys in the third quarter for Toms River North.

Davis scored 11 in the fourth quarter and 11 in the first eight minutes.

LAKEWOOD 58, POINT BORO 41: Senior guard-forward Dan Niblack scored 13 points and senior center Ben Watson added 12, leading the Piners (18-3, 14-0) past the Panthers (14-5, 9-4) in Class B South.

Senior guard-forward Will Boccanfuso led the Panthers with 15 points. Sophomore forward Peyton Wejnert added 13.

MANCHESTER 70, PINELANDS 49: Sophomore guard Shavar Reynolds scored 21 points and senior forward Malcolm Allen added 10, powering the Hawks (14-6, 8-5) past the Wildcats (5-15, 2-10) in Class B South.

BRICK MEMORIAL 68, TOMS RIVER EAST 58: Junior guard Aaron Scheiderman scored 24 points to lead the Mustangs (12-7, 9-5) past the Raiders (6-13, 2-12) in Class A South.

Junior guard Scott White added 13 points. Junior forward Joe Hans contributed 10. Senior guard C.J. Hirschy led the Raiders with 23 points. Freshman forward-guard Phil Lingat added 13.

LONG BRANCH 60, WALL 36: Led by senior guard Terrel Cox’s 18 points and 16 from senior forward Hassan Foster, the Green Wave (12-6, 8-4) bested the Crimson Knights in Class B North.

Cox erupted for 11 third-quarter points, keying a 19-10 output that sent the Green Wave in front 50-27. Cox put home three treys in the third quarter en route to 12 second-half points.

Foster scored nine first-half points, including seven in the second quarter, powering Long Branch in front 31-17. Foster picked off eight rebounds. Cox scrapped for five steals.

Junior guard Brendan Barcas led Wall with 11 points, including seven in the second quarter. Junior guard Trent Mitchell added 10, eight in the first half.

MANASQUAN 64, RARITAN 32: Sophomore forward Ryan Jensen netted 12 points to lead the Warriors (15-2, 12-1) past the Rockets (4-16, 2-11) in Class A Central.

Girls basketball

WALL 64, LONG BRANCH 46: Ellen Dougherty scored a team-high 24 points leading the Crimson Knights (14-6) over the Green Wave (4-14) in a Class B North game. Dougherty evened out the scoring with 12 in each half, and Sydney Darby also added 13 for the Crimson Knights.

CheKasha Andrews finished with a team-high 24 points for the Green Wave.

HOLMDEL 56, SHORE 23: Junior forward Morgan Graziano scored her team-high 15 points in the first half leading the Hornets (12-9) over the Blue Devils (6-14) in a Class A Central game. Liz Zelina and Mia Ehling also added 8 points each for the Hornets.

All Resier finished with a team-high 9 points for the Blue Devils.

TOMS RIVER SOUTH: 48, TOMS RIVER NORTH 33: Mackenzie Pepper scored all 11 of her points in the second half leading the Indians (14-5) over the Mariners (9-11) for at least a share of the Class A Central title.

Victoria Alvarez also scored a team-high 13 points for the Indians.
