High School Roundup: Vestal boys edge Corning in lacrosse opener

The Vestal Golden Bears boys lacrosse team scored four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to top visiting Corning 10-9 on Tuesday in a Section 4 Conference season-opener.

Pat Carlin won the game for Vestal with 35 seconds remaining, scoring from in close on the right side. The second half was dominated by the Golden Bears, who controlled the ball for long stretches due to a 18-5 faceoff advantage. Corning led 8-3 at halftime but could not hold on.

Vestal was paced by Sam Bulman and Jared Nelson, who each scored a team-high three goals and two assists. Corning was led by Adain Olmstead’s four goals.
