ENDICOTT – Ryan Mihok shot a 2-over 39 on the front nine at En-Joie Golf Club and the Vestal boys golf team, the day after winning the Nick DiNunzio Invitational, returned to En-Joie and beat Union-Endicott, 209-229, in Southern Tier Athletic Conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
Nick Barney and Matt Heichemer added 41s for the Golden Bears in their match debut for 2014. Hogan Bendert had a 42 to lead Union-Endicott (0-1), and Matt Gaydorus added a 44.
Maine-Endwell 220, Horsheads 228: At Willowcreek Golf Club, Johnny Plouffe had a 41 to win overall medalist for Maine-Endwell by one shot over Sean Nickerson of Horseheads in a match where each scoring member of the two teams was under 50 on the par-36 front nine.
Seton Catholic Central 221, Norwich 234: At Vestal Hill, Tommy Davis was medalist with a 3-over 39 and Andrew Haykal followed with a 43 for the Saints. Ryan Johnson and Joe Mioduszewski each shot 43s for Norwich.
Ithaca 197, Corning 210: At Corning Country Club, Nick Miller had an even-par 34 on the front nine and both Collyn Shippos (38), Dom Cicchetti (39) and Alex Wokzanski (40) did well for the Little Red. Alex Hepburn (36) and Donovan Austin-Reed (39) led Corning.
Windsor 200, Chenango Valley 209: At Golden Oak, Nate Wrighter had a 1-under 34 to lead the Black Knights, who are 2-0. Wrighter was overall medalist ahead of Zach Wyatt, who shot a 37 to lead Chenango Valley.
Chenango Forks 204, Owego 208: At Pheasant Hill, Kyle Norton shot an even-par 36 on the front nine to lead the winners. Zach Norton’s 39 also helped Forks, while Matt Marsili and Ethan Mead both had 39s for Owego.
Hancock 235, Bainbridge-Guilford 253: At French Woods, Jaden Winans’ 43 was the medalist for the match and Travis Reis followed with a 45, and Seth Simmons added a 47 for the winners. Cameron Luca’s 47 was team medalist for Bainbridge-Guilford.
Harpursville 237, Greene 271: At Genegantslet, Cody Hawkins shot a 38 to lead the Hornets and was overall medalist, two shots ahead of Marcus Dickerson. Harpursville’s depth won out, as both Hornets Garrett Blakeslee (48) and Ryan McMahon (49) were the only other players under 50.
