Windsor’s baseball team scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Norwich 7-4 on Wednesday in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference in a game that was actually played at Norwich.
Tied at 3 going in the bottom of the sixth after Norwich scored twice in its at-bat, Jody Cady led off with a single for the Black Knights. Jonah Bennett also singled, and Cady scored on a sacrifice fly. After a hit batter put runners on first and third, Noah Zakrajsek hit a RBI single to make it 5-3 Windsor.
With the bases loaded two batters later, Auston Reed was hit by a pitch to score a run for a 6-3 game. Joey Roberge added a RBI single for Windsor’s final run.
Johnson City 6, Chenango Valley 1: At Johnson City, Colin Arvanitakas threw a one-hit shutout in six innings to help the Wildcats take control. Matt Czeitner started the offense for the Wildcats in the third inning with a two-RBI single.
Deposit 8, Unadilla Valley 1: At Unadilla Valley, Zach Becker and Brandon Maycumber both had RBI triples in a six-run second ining and Trevor Stiles added a two-RBI single in the at-bat for the winners.
Maine-Endwell 4, Binghamton 3: At Binghamton, Kim Jones struck out 10 in a pitcher’s dual that lasted 13 innings, with Mikayla Pourby striking out eight for the Patriots. Jones was able to get the game-winning single as well.
Chenango Valley 8, Owego 4: At Owego, Jill Silvanic hit a home run for the Indians, but the Warriors posted five runs in the fourth inning to take the STAC matchup.
Union-Endicott 5, Corning 1: At Union-Endicott, Alexis Eastman pitched a complete game for the Tigers and allowed five hits, and Skyler Hoyt hit a home run to help the Tigers.
Greene 11, Unadilla Valley 4: At Greene, the Trojans earned 12 hits and Alex Thompson pitched a complete-game five-hitter.
Whitney Point 7, Lansing 6: At Whitney Point, Taylor Theleman led off the seventh inning with a walk and the Golden Eagles ended up scoring four times to win its fifth IAC division title in a row.
Deposit 10, Harpursville 2: At Deposit, Kassi Cook struck out 9 and batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a double to lead the Lumberjacks. Kylie Papagelos added two hits scored twice.
