HS baseball/softball roundup: Herzog leads Ketcham past Beacon

Casey Herzog struck out 15 and walked one as the Roy C. Ketcham High School softball team defeated Beacon, 11-1, in Wappingers Falls on Monday.

Karissa DeLuca and Danielle Kaufman had three hits apiece for Ketcham (3-0). DeLuca had a triple and three RBI, and Kaufman doubled. Annaika Jendras was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI.

Kristen Yanarella doubled for Beacon (2-1).

New Paltz 22, Dover 3 — Ally Pannuto was 4 for 6 with a double, triple, five RBI and three runs scored for visiting New Paltz in the Mid-Hudson Athletic League game.

Lea Jones was 4 for 5 with a triple, four RBI and two runs for the Huguenots.

Mackenzie Taggart finished with three hits and a run scored for Dover. Sara Regan and Marissa Ketchin each singled twice.
Highland 18, Webutuck 3 — Shannon Ward had nine strikeouts over three innings as the visiting Huskies won a rain-shortened, five-inning game in Amenia.
Kellie Panek was 3 for 3 with two triples and four RBI. Alex Wilklow was 3 for 4 with three RBI. Julie Valentino had a double, two singles and three RBI.
Kaitlyn Acklin had Webutuck’s lone hit.
Haldane 9, Walter Panas 8 — The host Blue Devils won their season opener on a walk-off suicide squeeze by Marissa Lisikatos, which scored her sister Sammi.
Sammi led off the eight inning with a bunt and then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch.
Allie Monteleone had a two-run home run for Haldane. Marley Chefalo struck out six over eight innings.
John Jay-Cross River 14, Arlington 2 — Linsey Henrique and Tracy Rancourt each had RBI, but the host Admirals fell to 0-3.
Arlington hosts Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Baseball

Cory Garcia was 2 for 4 with a run scored as Highland beat host Webutuck, 6-3, in an MHAL matchup.

Mike Canino doubled for the Huskies (1-1).

LeShawn Thrasher singled, doubled and drove in a run for Webutuck (1-1), which also received a double and a run scored from Chris Reed.

Arlington Maroon 10, Pine Plains 2 — Angelo Magliocca was 2 for 3 with three RBI as the visiting Admirals defeated Section 9’s Bombers in Pine Plains.

T.J. Greco had two hits and four RBI for Arlington Maroon (3-0). John Byrne contributed two hits.

Peter Ducillo drove in both runs for Pine Plains (0-3).

Poughkeepsie
2 — Connor Connaughton was 2 for 5 with a double and a single to lead the Warriors (1-1) to a road win.

Jake VanDetta had a hit, two walks and three runs scored for Lourdes.

Matt Romer drove in two runs for Poughkeepsie (0-4).
