The field has been announced for the 2014 Governor’s Challenge Basketball Tournament, which will take place Dec. 26-27 and Dec. 29-30.
The tournament, now in its 33rd year, will host 52 teams from around the region, including Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, New York, North Carolina and District of Columbia.
Teams from the Bayside South participating include: Wicomico, Parkside, Crisfield, James M. Bennett, Mardela, Pocomoke, Stephen Decatur, Washington.
Teams from the Henlopen South include: Delmar, Indian River, Laurel, Seaford.
Worcester Prep will represent the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference and Nandua will be representing Virginia.
This year the Governor’s Challenge will also have a girls basketball tournament, which will feature Mardela.
POCOMOKE 3, KENT COUNTY 2. The Warriors won 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 22-25 and 15-8 in the MPSSAA 1A East Regional Quarterfinals. Pocomoke will travel to Colonel Richardson in the MPSSAA 1A East Regional Semifinals on Wednesday.
COLONEL RICHARDSON 3, SNOW HILL 0. The Eagles lost 13-25, 11-25 and 7-25 in the MPSSAA 1A East Regional Quarterfinals.
