The Parkside girls soccer team defeated Queen Anne’s in penalty kicks 3-2 in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association 2A East Regional Semifinals.
Queen Anne’s netted the first goal to give the Lions a 1-0 advantage at the half.
In the second half, the Rams Blair Vilov scored to tie the game at 1-1 early in the second half. Emily Davis would give the Rams a 2-1 lead in the second half, but with two minutes left in the second half, Queen Anne’s would score on a penalty kick to send the game into overtime.
After two ten-minutes overtime sessions, in which neither team scored, the game went into penalty kicks, in which Parkside’s Emily Davis and Maria Gianelle each netted a goal, but the session was tied 2-2.
In the sixth penalty kick Alexis Nock would score first for Parkside and Queen Anne’s would miss to give the Rams a win.
The Rams will host Fallston in the MPSSAA 2A East Regional Finals.
EASTON 2, PARKSIDE 0. Gabe Wenke, Peter Cha, Logan Jones, Nik Forbush and Zane Carter all had a good game for the Rams in the MPSSAA 2A East Regional Semifinals.
KENT ISLAND 3, WICOMICO 0. The Indians fell 25-13, 25-17 and 25-7, with Megan Lowe leading Wicomico with three kills. Jazmyn Moye-Watson pitched in with two kills and a block and Aubrey Ferruccio chipped in with a kill and two blocks for Wicomico in the MPSSAA 2A East Regional First Round.
