The victory cemented his second straight state championship game Most Valuable Player award. Exemplary character: In addition to donating his time on behalf of his church and as a student ambassador for his school’s peer-mentoring initiative, he has volunteered locally as part of fundraising efforts for clothing and toy drives, food banks and Tori’s Angels Foundation to benefit children with life-threatening illnesses.

THE PRAISE

“He’s a great player and makes his team go,” said Brian Woodley, head coach of rival Johnston. “I have met him off the field, and he is a tremendous leader of young men and an individual that is well liked by everyone he meets. Boyle is the type of kid I hope my sons grow to be like when in high school. I will say I’m glad he will be gone next year, as I’m sick of [game-planning] for him.”

THE FUTURE: Boyle has verbally committed to Iowa.
