BUFFALO, N.Y.-At I-Prep in Buffalo early Friday afternoon it was a chance to celebrate the schools Class D New York State boys soccer championship.
In a packed assembly the team, coaches and players thanked their fellow students for their support and they also thanked all the administrators including city of Buffalo athletic director Aubrey Lloyd for all their help.
Head coach Tony Alessi told Two On Your Side’s Stu Boyar about the season “It was just an emotional roller coaster and you can’t really describe it, its just something that’ll always stay with me and I’ll never forget.”
Junior Abdirahman Ali said he’d never seen anything like it. “Oh that’s amazing because I’ve never because no one has ever thanked me for anything so its an amazing experience I’ve had.”
I-Prep has players from 12 different countries and the players speak 12 different languages. Yasir
Alhadeethi told Stu “There is a lot of guys, like five people speak the same language. If somebody speaks so good English we tell him and make sure that he tell everybody who speaks his language.”
Alessi told Stu that on day one of tryouts last summer he thought he had a talented squad and that they could do something special. Alessi is also very optimistic about next year because only two seniors graduate.
Pictures and game video used in this story were provided from a DVD put together by the I-Prep family.
