Jersey Shore basketball athletes among NJSCA All-Star selections

Several boys and girls basketball players from the Shore Conference were selected for the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association Senior North-South All-Star games on Sunday, March 23 at Rider University.

The boys participants from the Shore Conference are Point Beach’s Matt Farrell and Dom Uhl and Southern’s Mike Gesicki and the girls participants are Monsignor Donovan’s Dana Carbone, St. Rose’s Sarah Kurtz, Manasquan’s Sam Sullivan and Jackson Memorial’s Sheana Vega.

The games will be played at Alumni Gymnasium at Rider University in Lawrenceville. The boys game will be at Noon and the girls game will be at 2:30 p.m. Both games will feature a North Jersey vs South Jersey format and admission is $5.

In addition to competing in the All-Star, Southern’s Mike Gesicki will participate in the boys slam dunk contest, which will happen during halftime of the boys games.

The Shore Conference will also have some coaching representation during the games. Toms River North head boys basketball coach Rory Caswell will serve as the South boys team’s first assistant coach and Jackson Memorial head girls basketball coach Rachel Goodale will serve as the South girls team’s head coach and Manasquan head girls basketball coach Lisa Kukoda will serve as the South girls team’s second assistant coach.
