Kent Denver advances to 2A semifinals

KUSA – Kent Denver and Platte Valley face off in a 2A semifinal round of playoff football on Saturday afternoon. The Sundevils, ranked 2nd going into the game face 6th ranked Platte Valley Broncos who tack on the first score of the game.

Late in the 1st half the Sundevils cut the Broncos lead to 7-6. The close score only lasts a small amount of time before the Broncos strike back with a touchdown, missing the extra point, making the score 13-6.

Platte Valley’s Felipe Perez hits a 25-yd field goal to put the Broncos up 16-6 before the Sundevils answer with a touchdown to cut the lead to 16-12 in the 3rd quarter.

Through on an off snow flurries the two teams battled with little scoring throughout the rest of the game. However, Kent Denver throws a deep pass to put the Sundevils up 19-16 in the 4th quarter and later win the game 19-16.

Kent Denver will play now play 1st ranked Brush in the 2A state championship game.
