The Kentucky Travelers won their first two games in the Nike EYBL Peach Jam on Thursday, including an impressive 70-54 win over Minnesota’s Howard Pulley Panthers to finish the day.

Vanderbilt commitment Camron Justice of Knott County Central had 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and rising junior point guard Braxton Beverly of Perry County Central had 13 points and six assists. Manual’s Dwayne Sutton added eight points and 12 rebounds.

University of Kentucky assistants Barry Rohrssen was among the coaches who watched the game, keeping tabs on some of the best players in the state. UK coach John Calipari’s son, Brad, is also on the Travelers but not playing while recovering from a knee injury.

After the game, some of the Travelers’ uncommitted players updated their recruitment.

• Sutton has a scholarship offer from St. Francis and interest from North Carolina-Asheville, Samford, Wright State and Cleveland State.

• Ballard’s Jalen Perry is still waiting on his first offer but has interest from Wright State, Western Kentucky, Creighton, Central Florida, UAB, Jacksonville and Morehead State.

• Newport Central Catholic’s Drew McDonald has offers from hometown Northern Kentucky, where his mother played, St. Francis and Kentucky Wesleyan and interest from Columbia, Stetson, UNC-Asheville, Ohio, Wright State and Ball State.

• Lexington Christian’s Matt Rose has a scholarship offer from Samford, and he expects to officially visit there this fall. He has interest from Davidson, William and Mary, Florida-Gulf Coast.

• Beverly has offers from WKU, NKU, Samford, Marshall, Kentucky Wesleyan and Cleveland State and interest from UNLV, Minnesota, Penn State and others.
