Allatoona, the top-ranked Class 5-A team in Georgia, topped host Fairdale, 80-62, in the King of the Bluegrass boys’ basketball showcase on Friday night, despite an offensive performance from the Bulldogs’ Cory Thomas.
Thomas lit up the scoreboard with 38 points for the Bulldogs (8-11).
Daniel Fowler scored 26 points and collected seven rebounds to lead the Buccaneers (22-0), who scored 31 points in the first quarter and never trailed.
Both teams play again today at Fairdale High School. Allatoona takes on Iroquois at 1:30 p.m., while Fairdale will play Jeffersonville at 3 p.m.
